Medieval castle
The castle of Montsonís, which stands out in the village, its open for guided visits on Saturdays afternoon and Sunday morning. It is worth visiting. With almost a thousand years of history, constructed in the year 1024 by the Count of Urgell, Ermengol II, to protect his lands, the castle is now occupied by the owners, which have inherited the castle from fathers to children along 33 family generations.
One of the most attractive itineraries that one can do in the lands of Lleida is the Route of the Castles: - It includes well-preserved fortresses that will lead the visitor back to the medieval ages, when these lands constituted the frontier between the Arab and Christian territories.
The traditional tour of castles of Lleida includes five fortress: Mur in el Pallars Jussà, Montsonís, in la Noguera; Montclar in Urgell, and Florejacs and the Pallargues, in la Segarra.
Recentlly, it has been added to the tour the castle of Vicfred, also in la Segarra, that re-creates a majestic residence of the XVIII and XIX century
Finally, the medieval castle of Verdú, in the Urgell, can also be visited, calling in advance to the City council of the village.
